Great article! That is at least 10 seconds of fame. I would bike to work but I am certain I would die within a month due to no shoulders and pick-up trucks with 400 pound brush guards.

Is that your Element behind you? I used to have one of those and it was awesome for a biker. With the back seats folded up it was like a small cargo van.

Chris - I hear you on the lack of facilties. We have the same road situation to a large degree, just much fewer big pick-ups. But our city council is bike friendly and we are working to make it better.

And yes, that is an Element; fugly but functional. We got it a year ago to have a way to carry our bikes inside the vehicle. Works for us.

lauren, flandria, chris - thanks!

yeah, I love the Element (or Kermit the Frog, as we call it). The rare occasion that we do have to venture out in a car, it is great!

kim - thanks! I'll need it! Esp. since I've been battling food poisoning the last 36 hours. Ugh! I'm chugging the gatorade and water to avoid dehydration.

btw - shouldn't you be working on 'Death by PowerPoint'?

I also started taking Caltrain with my bike last fall. I love it. When I have to drive, I am bummed. I wish I would have started commuting sooner.
