So, they're a little screwy. They say I got 10th. I'll take it! Sounds more impressive than it is. I know I was not the last finisher. And, I thought I finished just behind Jessica d.J. from Touchstone. Did she nip me at the line and forget to check out? That would be weird. Maybe she only did 2 laps. I know that Yvonne W. and Christine A. finished. Did they forget to checkout, too? Or, too far past the winner to count? In any case, strange.
Oh, and apparently we ran the road race at an 8 mph average! My clock showed 2:55, 3 hours less than the clock on the spreadsheet. I don't think I could have continued at 8 mph for 5:55 in that heat.

Perhaps all those you think finished and are below you on the list did just two laps.
The times for the RR are screwed up for about half the races. Mens C5 and W1/2/P, W3, W4 are all wrong.
You get chops for sticking it out. Lots of DNF's and a few DNS's. The Ultra-Geezers had just 11 of 42 finish. Looks like the hand of brutal weather was played.
Way to Go!
Chatterbox - 10th is fantastic. Especially as brutal as the weather was. Plus it was your first Stage Race, so it was a new world for you. I am sure that you will keep improving.
great job anyway, even if the results are messed up! Sounds like you did great in the races...from all the reports! Some day we'll race together...
drkim - we did race together! At Sea Otter circuit. But, it was a total zoo, and I was off the back pretty quick. Wasn't much for the socializing.
it showed that we were out there for more than 6 hours...I didn't drink enough - bad tactic
you are tough for hanging in there and FINISHING!
it was a race of attrition
flandria - good on you for sticking it out, too! Yeah, no wonder I was heat-exhausted with only 1 water bottle for every two hours ;)
oops, meant over 5 hours...looking at the wrong column
:-) still didn't drink enough bottles...
OK, I think I understand the 'screwed up clock'. I believe they are showing elapsed times from the start of the first race that morning, ca. 3 hours before the start of yours. Looks like they use one clock no matter what time the race starts .... without doing the compensation.
chatterbox-oops...the sea otter circuit race was a blur to me (mostly me cursing my bike which was really not shifting into the big ring)...maybe next year will be better for us both! :-) and im with you on asking OV to blog more...its my daily entertainment!
drkim - shifting problems on the circuit race was an issue you and Ms. Chatterbox had in common. Hers was a problem shifting to the small ring ... which seems to have been caused by a replacement of the chain (replaced Shimano with Wippermann). I think she was ready to fire her mechanic (me) after that ....
drkim. - yeah the shifting problems at Sea Otter were a bummer, but it didn't really matter, since I would have been off the back anyway. I hope you had fun despite your problems...I sure did!
cyclistrick - I think I'll keep my mechanic, because he is cute and gives good leg massages!
