we take a break from this cycling blog for...puppy love!

My black lab, Corky is about 14 years old this year. That's beyond ancient in puppy years. He probably isn't much longer for this life. But, he's lived out his golden years in puppy heaven at my parent's home near Pismo Beach.

It's kind of a long story why he ended up living with them, but he's been very happy there. Here are some pics my parents snapped with him at the beach this week.

meeko our sibe is now more than 14 years old but still strong, we predicted him to go first in the pack our 4 huskies but it turns out, he is the last of the mohicans

Chris - yes, he's like a little old man with that beard.

flandria - I hope he has some more good years. His legs are starting to give him trouble, though. :(

thanks, marscat & ippoc! good seeing you today at le track.

My childhood dog Honey made it to 14 and was sprayed by a skunk just about every year of her life. Life would never be as joyous without our favorite 4-legged friends.

kim - Corky has some good skunk stories, too! Like the time we were living in Pacifica and I took him for a run. He was sniffing a bed of ivy and came up with a skunk in his mouth and started doing the death shake on it. Needless to say, both of us ended up highly stinky. When we lived there, we had a special concoction of "de-skunking" potions on hand for the regular run-ins with the skunks.

4 legged friends are the best - even if they occasionally get in trouble.
