Introverts' weekend of socialization

Despite the fact that I'm chatty on my blog, I'm a bit of an introvert. Cyclistrick is an utter and complete introvert. And, we spent pretty much the entire weekend socializing. I think we've done so much socializing, we're probably done for the year.

Saturday, we went out to the Hellyerdrome. I mostly went because I wanted to see all the other bloggers who were alleged to be coming (had yet to meet PABcid and Xbunny). But, I also needed to get one more high-intensity workout in, according to my coach. And, I want to finish up my 3 sessions so I can race next season if I want. We hung out with VeloBella, Ippoc, Marscat, Xbunny, PABcid, Olaf, Alicat & Merkeleybike, lil'ninja and Natasha. We all huddled together in a small patch of shade created by the Bella pop-up. It was HOT out there. The whole lot of us retreated hastily once the session was done to go have lunch at a salad bar. Mmmmm.

Later in the afternoon, cyclistrick and I met up with one of my teammates (also a blogger), kim. We played mini golf and melted ourselves in the sun. We then headed over to a little cantina for some refreshment.

Sunday, I spent most of the day working on my thesis project. But, we did get out for a couple hours on the bikes and ran an errand while we were out.

Yesterday, cyclistrick and I got up early :( to go spectate the Giro di San Francisco :) We cheered on kim and evan in the W4 race and then cheered for Anna and Alicat in the W3 race.

We headed home after the W3 race to make a brunch with my former roommate and a couple of her friends.

Phew! That was a lot of socialization. Time for a nap!

I'm with you on the introvert thing, and isn't it funny how everything comes in waves? After months of managing to avoid every possible invitation, this weekend we went to two BBQs, the race, hung out with friends separately from those other things twice, and had to turn down another invitation because we were full up!

Summer must be ending...everyone's trying to prolong.

Phew! Time for me to crawl back in my cave .... :-) Or to go out on long, easy bike rides alone or with my fave riding buddy.

Thanks for coming out on Monday. It was fun to see you and even more fun to HEAR you every lap.

oh socializing is so draining... especially when it's about movies, tv shows, and celebrities...i just pretend like i don't understand english.

panda - I think a high percentage of us bloggers are introverts. We 'socialize' better in writing :)

c-rick - yup! see you in the cave.

alicat - glad you could hear me screeching! I think I left half my voice out there somewhere. :)

twinkie - good tactic!

i'm an introvert sometimes and an outrovert sometimes.

guess it just depends on my mood.

but i totally understand what you're talking about.

we did so much stuff & socializing this past weekend that today i'm working from home so that i can have some alone time. i'm not even going to ride today.

and i'm still in my pajamas.

lauren - working in pajamas rocks! We actually had a LOT of fun this weekend! I don't think there's anything we would have eliminated (OK, rick would have avoided the brunch with ex-roomie). Now it's time to recharge with some quality alone and couple-time!

You guys look like you have a blast at that track. Wish we had one here so I could give it a go.

chris - when you visit the area you will need to make sure to save a Sat morning so you can attend one of the beginner sessions. Lots of fun times and cheap entertainment; $6 for parking, $5 for the session, $5 to rent a bike for the day.

nice to meet you!!

chris - yes, the track is much fun - largely because of all the fun people there!

xbunny - nice to meet you, too!

Totally. It's why I prefer email to phone calls and why I always seem like a mousy boring little thing in person...takes a keyboard to gussy up my sparkling personality ;).
