Fitness update
Since Twinkie asked, I will give a little fitness update. I am currently in week 2 of my quest to be less squishy in the upper body....meaning that I should be able to lift something weighing more than a Danish. However, this is possibly at odds with the general cyclist aim of having arms and shoulders that look like those of an emaciated prisoner of war while having legs that look like the dead lifters in the Olympics. If you want to read up more on the fitness plan, you can visit hundredpushups.com
Well, I'm happy to report things are going well. When I started, I could only do 3 consecutive pushups (man style). That means I am following the "wimp" plan in the far left column. Yesterday, I completed 24 pushups in my workout. I almost lost it on the last one, but teetered and wobbled my way back up from the brink. In between the push up sets, I did my normal stretching/foam roller/situps. I also did 30 situps with nothing/no one holding my feet down. We'll see if I can get back in the hundreds with that again soon, too. In the next 4 weeks I should be able to do 100 pushups in 5 sets. We shall see....

Sweet! You're making real progress! I started Pilates about a month ago...and it's making a difference for me, too. We have to do pushups there...
Yesterday I went to my massage, and my soigneur said...what HAVE you been doing to your upper body! I gleefully said "pushups!" and she said "how...girly...of you" while rolling her eyes. She then went on to say that my body has never felt so balanced....so maybe it is having a real tangible effect after all--aside from the not so tangible "pilates ring is a torture device" thought I have all the time...
kim - yes, balance is the key, I think. Even if we are a little silly/tortured in how we get there.
100 man pushups! Wow! That will be impressive.
Um, I was kind of expecting to see your upper limb in progress, rather than a pair of fowl arms...
twinkie - I don't expect any radical visual transformation to my upper body - just more inner strength :)
Bock! Bock!
That's good progress. I tried the push up challenge last year. I never made it to 100 consecutive push ups but was able to do 50-25-25 at the end.
Good luck and let us know how you go!
Best of luck. 24 push ups is more than I can do :)
i just did 5 pushups.
and i think it's "bawk, bawk", isn't it?
